Hi all

Trolled the web looking for a forum to post these images which were captured on Sunday by my living room Clever Dog security cam whilst I was staying away.

I installed the cam about two months ago and configured it for motion detection and in that time it has only captured a stealth visit from my Son who was caught bang to rights raiding my fridge. It has never alerted me to anything apart from that, however on Sunday around 23:30 (timestamps on the images) it fired of 6 x 3 frame alerts of what, I actually don't know?

I rent the house, been in it for just over two years and from what I know the owners wife sadly passed here. Also, and I know you are going to think this weird, I have my Mums ashes on the cabinet to the left and shes always there. Incidentally, we both kind of believed in all things spiritual, both of us being a little psychic and to that end we made a pact that whoever went first would come back from the other side and give proof..

Yeh it could be a fly, moth, dust etc but I'm not convinced. I came home the next day and searched for insects but didn't find anything.

Be interested to hear opinions as these don't look like your normal orb's, if there is such a thing.

Cheers

Dave

Yup that's a moth  your camera seems to have an infrared array close to the sensor.

Some moths are attracted to infrared but that one looks like it just fluttered by, on the plus side your camera has very good optics  normally super bright objects so close to the camera will blob and blur but you have a fairly sharp outline....you know of a moth  or maybe a ghost moth

Thanks for your reply Siguie, good to hear your opinion which I think is pretty much accurate. Just wondering why the little flying friend didn't continue to expose himself around the light honeypot longer and why I still cant find a moth corpse?

Just keeping it out there...

Well to be fair most insects are not so much attracted to infrared as much as they can see it and are potentially going to investigate it and yeah if it were strongly attracted you'd have a lot more to post.

That said unless you opened the door/window and it fluttered in, most house moths will be looking for your kitchen pantry or wool silk, cotton, fur, aka their food stuff. Outdoor moths are basically night butterflies and will be looking for some type of liquid

Yes they are.  Good job in selecting that camera
