I got a very nice birthday present actually. The night before my birthday a rare bird arrived at a location just two hours drive from my home. The rarest bird in North America at the moment as it turned out. Being a dedicated birder this was the perfect gift for me.

That is exactly what I would have thought if it had appeared in my tree. I actually had about a dozen young robins in my Mountain Ash tree eating the berries from it this fall and they looked very similar. I'm glad it decided to visit the tree of a better birder than I. Also I need to look carefully at all robins in my tree and yard to make sure I don't have anything special visiting.
