This was an interesting article that I came across today. As I have been able to see my own orbs and while I believe not every orb is real I do believe that some are more to them that meets the eye!

Posted Image

Dr. Gary E. Schwartz and Adjunct Research Professor of Optical Sciences Katherine Creath at the University of Arizona published a study on orbs in 2005.

They said most orbs can be explained by the reflection of the camera’s flash off of objects on the scene, or off of dust. However, Schwartz and Creath acknowledged that some orbs seem to defy conventional optical explanation.

An orb captured in a BBC documentary, for example, moved slowly before disappearing. Schwartz and Creath write: “It is not possible to explain orbic objects such as these that move in dynamic and unpredictable paths as being caused by stray reflections. It is also not possible to explain many of them as being caused by dust particles in the air.”

Here is another interesting image

Well the second image is pretty obliviously a flash orb. Do you have a link to the article or is the image from the study? 'cuz i'd like to see the video that picture came from since there's nothing special about the picture alone.

Well it is still a very good pdf on orbic phenomena  I also pretty much agree with everything she says but it is not a particularly technical paper and the cameras used for research were relatively cheap and there were only 5 of them so this isn't a comprehensive study or anything BUT I think what she says is right on ....  'Spiritual or other-worldly interpretations of ‘‘orbs’’ in photographs should only be considered under conditions in which all sources of stray reflection and diffraction have been eliminated from the environment.'

Orbs can move in distinct patterns, even when they are dust

Personally I think an orb video where an orb did not move would be more convincing than an orb moving randomly or in distinct patterns. Ok if it was moving in a cursive script spelling thangs out I'd put that up a notch otherwise stationary for the win

Ha, ha, :verymad: NO, "tops them all"   I mean, the person doing the seeing will know it is the real deal easier than looking at an image trying to :Picture 562: if it is dust or NOT ;)

Well I was gonna sez "Oh REALLY what's yer evidence ... oh right there is NONE! :bunny: " but I'm gonna forego my typical delightfully saucy mock and ask a serious question ... Why do you think that?

Srsly  many people make similar comments about various phenomena and I'm just curious why people believe this. Assuming the phenomenon is strictly visual {no other senses involved} why would you consider a personal experience more convincing than digital assuming recording at appropriately high resolution of course?

I understand personal experience is more "convincing" to ones belief of a phenomenon because people have to rely on their senses for every experience since that's the only way we can perceive the world. However, senses are easily deceived and fleeting phenomena are often tweaked a bit more by the brain with each recollection, while you can review recordings.

So ... why?

My comment... it is harder for me to look at an image and say either way if it is dust or something more (What that something more is I really don't have the answers). However, when I see something (and I don't need evidence to support I am seeing it) my gut tells me it is something more :) I can't imagine images in my mind, even with my eyes closed, so I know it isn't my imagination when I see them with my eyes open and fully awake ;)

Well imagination or not ... Orbs are real ... however, the real question is why is it that when you see one you decide it's "paranormal". When you see a magic trick do you assume the effect is real magic until you can figure it out? If not why do you assume an orb to be some paranormal manifestation.

If you haven't figured it out yet I'm pretty much science guy

When you wear your tu-tu, remember they are not like kilts, you have to wear undies with them.
