I’d like to thank everyone willing to participate in this thread. I refrained from commenting until a sufficient time had elapsed with the exception of Yari’s viewing issue. I hope everyone understands.

I’m glad you looked at the EXIF data. We have more speculations in the paranormal than actual reliable data to go by. Clearly the file was at the very least resaved 5 weeks later but I don’t see any exposure or saturation values changed. EXIF seems to be fully intact. The Nikon E4800 could be set in 4 sizes.
2288x1712
1600x1200
1024x768
640x480
All image sizes are set at 4:3. It’s possible the image was sized down in Photoshop but it hasn’t been cropped. Reading EXIF can be helpful in making determinations but are guidelines because EXIF data values can be easily altered with an image editor.

Someone walking in front of the camera that's set on long exposure.
Definitely the case here. The EXIF states a ½ second shutter duration. That’s plenty of time to create motion blur with someone walking into the frame. It appears the image was taken at waist height. It’s possible a tripod was used with the 10 second timer enabled or another person assisted with the shot.

My instinct is that it's motion blur of a man in a suit walking. It could still be a shadow person of course, but the posture seems too stiff to be one and it's very rare that they're that still whenever I've seen them (they usually dart around a room to avoid being seen.)
There’s another image similar to this posted on the web.

I see this highly suspicious simply because what are the chances 2 images are snapped with analogous results. I suppose it’s possible but you would need some other supportive evidence to substantiate the claim.

The bright lights down the hallway are overwhelming the camera, the person walking into frame doesn't have any back lighting, so appears black. Looks like they may be wearing a hoodie
Vlawde, this is almost spot on to my assessment. Strong backlighting will make an object fall into complete shadow. All it takes is a couple of stops of lights brighter in the background.
Here’s another example of this phenomena.
I made this in the foyer of a hotel hosting a wedding I was photographing. The proprietor at the front desk fell into complete shadow while walking into the back room. The lighting conditions weren’t nearly as exaggerated as the Queen Mary image yet the shadowed proprietor was captured without any visible detail.
In closing, I’m very impressed with everyone’s calculation. There just seems to be a rarity of legitimate images of the paranormal. With a long list of reasons why this doesn’t occur it’s a further disappointment when one suspects a staging.
Thank you for your participation
