Paul sent these pictures, in a PM, to the Facebook page. I know a lot here aren't too fond of orbs but I thought the face in it interesting.

Paul writes

"Hi Guys, I have never done this sort of thing before, not really a believer ... But open minded. So, my family and I moved into this old home in Nova Scotia. Anyway, within a couple of weeks I took this picture in the upstairs hallway where my children were playing.....Please examine and advise....Thank you for any input. I have zoomed in on the orb but have the original.... if you need this as well. Thanks again Paul.

Very detailed orb!  Probably one of the best orb captures I've seen!

Typical dust. The 'face' ... the 'structure' you are looking at is 'optical noise', caused in large part by minor imperfections in the camera lens. As with any noise, patterns will sometimes be seen in the random shapes. Any suitable arrangement of a line ('mouth') and two dots ('eyes') is likely to suggest a face. People are particularly prone to seeing 'faces' in random shapes. You should clean the lens on your camera. It won't stop you getting orbs but they should no longer have 'faces'. Cleaning the lens will also stop you seeing the 'same' orb again (because the 'structure' will change!).

Well, let's hope Paul's lens was clean at the time.

I'm with Vlawde here. I've seen countless images like this when the conditions are presented with a lens closely positioned to the flash. Much of this explainable phenomena is stopped when off camera lighting is implemented or at the very least using a lens hood. When I found I could replicate this same effect naturally, it's easily seen as a perpetuated belief system without any serious investigation of causes. There are exceptions but one has to look at that one blade of grass in a lawn to find it.

Well, let's hope it's that one blade of grass then.

I know, the above is not really an orb hiding in the plants...
and not a blade of grass either... but it's all good... super giant egg maybe?  :)

Update from Paul :D

Thank you for your response and kind words about my house. It's actually known in Pictou as being haunted and is listed under Pictou Historical society under Myth and folklore as being such. But I have lived here 7 years and have no proof of that, other than the Orb picture which is somewhat dubious!
I am enjoying the responses from everyone whatever there thoughts, I enjoy both sides of the argument. If you could thank them I would appreciate it.
Many thanks, once again it's been a real positive experience!
Paul.

So thank you, everyone :D
