Hair Pulling

My hair just got pulled - HARD. I don't mean a little piece of hair that gets caught between my back and the chair (my hair is very long - almost to my waist), I'm talking if felt like someone grabbed a handful and yanked.
Now, I tried a few things. I piled my hair up so that it was sitting on the edge of the chair back, then leaned back so it fell off of the chair to hang freely, but it wasn't the same.
I feel like an idiot saying this, but I swear up and down that someone grabbed my hair and gave it a heck of a yank. It jerked my head, it was that hard.
Only catch is - my husband is sound asleep and so are the cats - they're all curled up in bed in the room across the hall.
We only recently moved to this house (I reported paranormal happenings in our apartment last year) and I haven't noticed anything since we've been here (8 months), and I'm quite sensative.
So... what on earth was that? Can anyone suggest anything else I can try to figure out if it was just .. .I dunno, something other than my hair getting yanked by ...whatever??
I'm a smidge twitched....

I wish I knew what to suggest but that is odd. I don't know of a way that could happen from any normal means. Maybe I'm just not seeing it though.

I dream I'm this adventurer. This daredevil, a madman. The Doctor, I'm called. And last night, I dreamt that you were there. As my companion.
~
He's like fire and ice and rage. He's like the night, and the storm in the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe. And... he's wonderful

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause-of-effect...but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly...timey-wimey...stuff.

Did it happen just randomly, or what were you doing at the time?

My friend Erin stays over night now and then and usually sleeps in this room, so I'll ask her if she's noticed anything, but she does *not* believe in anything paranormal, at all, whatsoever, so she'll think I'm being a loon.
The house isn't old - only about 30 years or so, tops, so it doesn't have that much of a history.
I'll keep my eyes and ears peeled and see if perhaps something is going on. It's happened before around me, so I won't be all that surprised really. Hubby is used to it by now too, but the cats are never going to forgive me. They hated the last place we lived...

ETA: Something else just occured to me. There's a lamp here that I can't keep going. It blows lightbulbs out like crazy - at least one every couple of weeks, or more. Sometimes the next day. It's the proper wattage bulb in there. I've tried different brands, it doesn't matter. It blows out no matter what. I've had the lamp checked (it's valuable, so I'm not going to just chuck it) twice but there's nothing wrong with it.
Could it be related or just a faulty lamp? The lamp is a gift from my mother-in-law. I asked her and she said she's never had a problem with the lamp, and she kept it in their guest room for quite a number of years. She said that she's had the lamp for about 5 years, and only replaced the bulb twice.
I've had the lamp for 6 months and have gone through 6 bulbs, three of those in the last 2 months, 2 of those in the past 2 weeks.
Ideas anyone?

It also sounds like you have very pretty hair, so maybe the ghost just wanted to touch it. I don't blame you if that seems icky...but maybe it was just admiring you and letting you know that it noticed. Beyond the weirdness of it, maybe it was meant as a compliment?
And, if this doesn't happen often, maybe it's just a ghost passing through. The lamp...have the wiring checked out, especially if it's older.

As for the hair - It doesn't creep me out, which is good. It could be they just want to touch. It's happened before, in another very haunted house (I'd give my eyeteeth to take a team in to that house!!!) that I lived in when I was in my pre-teens.
I guess I just have nice hair?

I agree with Kate, most likely a means to get your attention - if it happens in the future, just call out "hey, I know you are there, but could you mind not pulling my hair in the future?"
And electrical things are icky, I have all sorts of issues with lamps/computers and basically anything like that!
I just stay away

My husband though (he does *not* believe in ghosts of any sort) commented that the bedroom (where the lamp is) is rediculously cold lately.
I love the cold, so I keep the house cold anyway. For us to notice a room being cold, it has to be cold.
The bedroom is cold. It's the coldest room in the house (other than the basement, but that's the basement - it's in the ground!), which is weird. None of the other rooms up here are cold at all.
I won't be attributing that to anything odd for the moment, not until I eliminated heat circulation/insulation issues first, as it is the biggest room in the house, so I'll assume that it is harder to heat, I suppose.
But no, nothing weird or unusual. A few odd bangs and such, but I have 2 cats and they get in to everything, so I give them credit for that.
If anything else happens, I'll post it. I'm usually very sensative and I simply do not sense anything hot in the house. It has energy (everything does), but nothing to make me think that there would be activity here.
Who knows. Maybe it was passing through? I dunno....

Maybe the hair pulling was them saying 'ok, I'm on my way out now, nice to meet you!"
