Um... okay.  This is odd, especially because I consider myself a soft skeptic (I believe, just not that everything is paranormal), but I'm sitting, right where I'm sitting at this moment, less than 5 minutes ago ....
My hair just got pulled - HARD.  I don't mean a little piece of hair that gets caught between my back and the chair (my hair is very long - almost to my waist), I'm talking if felt like someone grabbed a handful and yanked.
Now, I tried a few things.  I piled my hair up so that it was sitting on the edge of the chair back, then leaned back so it fell off of the chair to hang freely, but it wasn't the same.
I feel like an idiot saying this, but I swear up and down that someone grabbed my hair and gave it a heck of a yank.  It jerked my head, it was that hard.

Only catch is - my husband is sound asleep and so are the cats - they're all curled up in bed in the room across the hall.

We only recently moved to this house (I reported paranormal happenings in our apartment last year) and I haven't noticed anything since we've been here (8 months), and I'm quite sensative.

So...  what on earth was that?  Can anyone suggest anything else I can try to figure out if it was just .. .I dunno, something other than my hair getting yanked by ...whatever??

I'm a smidge twitched....

Fascinating.

I wish I knew what to suggest but that is odd. I don't know of a way that could happen from any normal means. Maybe I'm just not seeing it though.

I've never had my hair jerked before. Although every so often I get the feeling like someone is tapping me a little on the back of the head. My house is a ex-haunted house so nothing really paranormal or strange happens here. Still, I always find it strange when it feels like someone is tapping me or playing with my hair. Although...I have been trying to open my senses and mind to try to be able to see spirits around me...dont know if that would have anything to do with it.

I dream I'm this adventurer. This daredevil, a madman. The Doctor, I'm called. And last night, I dreamt that you were there. As my companion.

How strange.. I had my hair pulled 2 nights ago! Well rather pulled at first, and then VERY obviously stroked a few times. At the time I was crying about my boyfriend leaving to go overseas, and I just felt someone yanking on and then playing with my hair. Weirdest thing unsure.gif

Did it happen just randomly, or what were you doing at the time?

I was at my computer, reading.  That's it.  This morning, I told hubby about it and he said he hasn't noticed anything in the house at all, though sometimes he feels that someone has walked past him, but he's always just brushed that off as either static electricity or maybe he didn't notice the cats going by (we have 2).
My friend Erin stays over night now and then and usually sleeps in this room, so I'll ask her if she's noticed anything, but she does *not* believe in anything paranormal, at all, whatsoever, so she'll think I'm being a loon.
The house isn't old - only about 30 years or so, tops, so it doesn't have that much of a history.

I'll keep my eyes and ears peeled and see if perhaps something is going on.  It's happened before around me, so I won't be all that surprised really.  Hubby is used to it by now too, but the cats are never going to forgive me.  They hated the last place we lived...  tongue.gif

ETA:  Something else just occured to me.  There's a lamp here that I can't keep going.  It blows lightbulbs out like crazy - at least one every couple of weeks, or more.  Sometimes the next day.  It's the proper wattage bulb in there.  I've tried different brands, it doesn't matter.  It blows out no matter what.  I've had the lamp checked (it's valuable, so I'm not going to just chuck it) twice but there's nothing wrong with it.

Could it be related or just a faulty lamp?  The lamp is a gift from my mother-in-law.  I asked her and she said she's never had a problem with the lamp, and she kept it in their guest room for quite a number of years.  She said that she's had the lamp for about 5 years, and only replaced the bulb twice.

I've had the lamp for 6 months and have gone through 6 bulbs, three of those in the last 2 months, 2 of those in the past 2 weeks.

Ideas anyone?

Well, the hair-tugging definitely sounds like a way of getting attention--sort of a "hey, here I am" kind of thing.  I don't think it was meant to hurt you, but it being a rather forceful tug makes it sound deliberate.  Ghosts can't say hi the conventional way, so they resort to whatever means they can use to acknowledge you and have you notice their presence too.  Lights turning on/off, doors opening, and other "little things" usually happen for the same reason (if it's a ghost doing them).

It also sounds like you have very pretty hair, so maybe the ghost just wanted to touch it.  I don't blame you if that seems icky...but maybe it was just admiring you and letting you know that it noticed.  Beyond the weirdness of it, maybe it was meant as a compliment?

And, if this doesn't happen often, maybe it's just a ghost passing through.  The lamp...have the wiring checked out, especially if it's older.

I had the lamp checked twice - it's only 5 years old, nothing wrong with it.  I plugged it in to a different outlet a few months ago and put another lamp in its place, but that didn't help - the lamp still blew bulbs.  We're not talking high wattage here either - only 40 watts.

As for the hair - It doesn't creep me out, which is good.  It could be they just want to touch.  It's happened before, in another very haunted house (I'd give my eyeteeth to take a team in to that house!!!) that I lived in when I was in my pre-teens.

I guess I just have nice hair?  biggrin.gif

I agree with Kate, most likely a means to get your attention - if it happens in the future, just call out "hey, I know you are there, but could you mind not pulling my hair in the future?"

And electrical things are icky, I have all sorts of issues with lamps/computers and basically anything like that!

I just stay away smile.gif

Nothing.  It's been absolutely quiet ever since.  I set up my webcam to face me and take pics every so often, but nothing.
My husband though (he does *not* believe in ghosts of any sort) commented that the bedroom (where the lamp is) is rediculously cold lately.
I love the cold, so I keep the house cold anyway.  For us to notice a room being cold, it has to be cold.
The bedroom is cold.  It's the coldest room in the house (other than the basement, but that's the basement - it's in the ground!), which is weird.  None of the other rooms up here are cold at all.
I won't be attributing that to anything odd for the moment, not until I eliminated heat circulation/insulation issues first, as it is the biggest room in the house, so I'll assume that it is harder to heat, I suppose.

But no, nothing weird or unusual.  A few odd bangs and such, but I have 2 cats and they get in to everything, so I give them credit for that.

If anything else happens, I'll post it.  I'm usually very sensative and I simply do not sense anything hot in the house.  It has energy (everything does), but nothing to make me think that there would be activity here.

Who knows.  Maybe it was passing through?  I dunno.... tongue.gif

Maybe the hair pulling was them saying 'ok, I'm on my way out now, nice to meet you!"

My husband is an electronics technician,so the lamp I can give a logical explanation to it.Power surges.I know it sounds crazy with so many bulbs being blown but just hear me out ok.My oldest son has a little rider jeep that we have to change the fuze in it every time we charge that battery. It's just a sudden rush of energy that shoots through it from the wall socket. It wouldn't matter much if you moved the lamp to a different outlet or not, your house is still on the same wire system. It would get a surge no matter where you plug it in at and POP!!..There goes the bulb. Now the hair thing,I understand. dry.gif My hair is almost to my waist to and I have had it pulled, pressed, tugged, tied, knoted, pushed, flipped, jerked, yanked, stroked and almost braided with no visible hands in sight. But that's more my fault for giving permission to have it played with on occasion. biggrin.gif I'm used to it now,but my poor lil sis in law nearly wet her pants the night it was almost braided..  blink.gif

just a general thought, but have you checked the history of the house out? found out if anything signifigant has happened there? what about taking pics after anything unusual happens or for that matter taking family pics and seeing what shows up. living with a ghost can be fun.

Next time wear Hair Extension so if someone tries to pull your hair, he will get your wig.
