From Season 4:

While trying to disarm a man with a gun, Jim Clancy is mistakenly shot by a cop and later dies at the Hospital.
A grief stricken Melinda must cope with not just his death, but his refusal to cross over.
Coming across a man who has just died in a traffic accident, Jim's spirit enters the body of the man and the man comes back to life.
Jim is in the body of a man named Sam but has no memory of his past life.
After some time passes, Jim/Sam decides it's time to leave town.

Delia Banks, Melinda's best friend goes out to the Basketball Courts to pick up her son Ned so they can go to Lunch together.
Ned explains to her over the phone that since Jim's death, he's been other things instead of working at Melinda's shop or
playing Basketball at the courts. While there, Delia catches sight of Sam who seems to be dribbling aimlessly as though not sure what to do.
She sees Sam, but WE see Jim and hear Jim's voice.

Delia: "Sam?"

Sam/Jim: "Delia, right?"

Delia: "What are you doing here?"

Sam/Jim: "Promise not to laugh? I have no idea. I was drivin' outta town. I was leaving...and then suddenly

I got this feeling that I was supposed to be somewhere....somewhere important, so I just came here. Weird, isn't it?"

Delia: "Yeah, you could say that."

Sam/Jim: "I was hoping someone would recognize me...and tell me why I had to be here."
Delia: (Realizing that it's really Jim) "It's really you."

Sam/Jim: "Sorry?"

Delia: "I think you could be right. I think you are supposed to be somewhere."

Sam/Jim: "Where?"

This used to be my favorite show when it was on. Some of the stories were quite intense and they held your attention from start to finish. It probably didn't hurt that I had the hots for Jennifer Love Hewitt also. The earlier seasons were always a favorite of mine.

Yeah, I felt the same. I stopped watching it when they pulled that stunt.
