Pyrokinesis is the ability to create or add heat to a substance and possibly ignite the object on fire simply by using one's mind and concentration abilities. I think this could happen though many people say this is very rare

Pyrokinesis

It is said to be a form of psychokinesis

I would love to have this ability...is a safe way. If I needed to build a fire in the woodstove or out camping, this would sure as heck come in handy! Remember the old movie "Fire Starter?" Good flick about a young girl that could do this.

It makes you wonder though....is it a malfunction of the brain? People say that some people are more in tune with thier Six senth than others...maybe this is a 7th sense or somthing.

There was that movie where the guy got all this realy cool power....turned out he had a brain tumor...

If I'm not mistaken I remember like a week or two ago i'm not sure I remember seeing some guy on tv that could light a paper on fire but i think it had something to do with him having a lot of electricity inside of him.

I think this is very interesting. It is like Firestarter, lol. I have read a few cases where this could have been the cause of several fires.

Yeah. I know it does seem to be a bit more uncommon now but there were a multitude of cases in the past.

If you mean a theatrical movie, that's Stephen King's The Dead Zone. He was in a coma, came out of it with the ability to see the future, present and past by touching people. He realized a presidental canidate was going to bring about a nuke war. He managed to stop the presidental canidate, but then he found out he had a brain tumor and was dying. He died in the end. Good book, movie and now USA tv series. After The Dead Zone, Stephen King wrote Firestarter.

Plot's been copied several times since.

No, it was not. Firestarter was partly; King got the idea from Charles Fortean, I believe.  He mentions it in the back of the book.

The movie was "Phenomenon" (1996) Staring John Travolta
In the film, an amiable, small-town everyday man is inexplicably transformed into a genius with telekinetic powers.
Not based on a true story. And he died at the end of the movie from a brain tumor, if I remember correctly.

Excellent movie
