This new device has been used on the first few episodes of Nick Groff's new show Paranormal Lockdown. I'm leery of any device that claims it can communicate with the "other side". But I think it at least deserves a look. Just what I've seen on the show, the reverb effect makes it (for me) almost impossible to hear clearly what is being said. (or supposedly said). I did read that the inventor may address the reverb, at this point there are no controls to dial it down, so to speak.

Anyhoo, here's a link where you can read more and hear it in action. Yeah, I know...it's Steve Huff. But he didn't invent it, he is just trying it out    http://huffparanorma...irit-box-maybe/

He always get the spirit boxes to work right away. I really want to believe it is true, but something tells me it is a bit too good to be true. I really want to try a spirit box myself one day.

I wouldn't take much stock in spirit boxes myself. Huff doesn't have a sterling reputation in the paranormal field,  he claimed he communicated with Debbie Constantino days after her death. Likely BS to further his "career", and is in bad taste either way. I only linked to his video to show the thing in action and more details about it, after seeing it on Paranormal Lockdown. If they could remove the reverb or tone it down, it would be easier to judge if it's legit in any way, shape or form

Yes, i've heard that he might be faking it all. it's a shame, cos i was really a big fan of his.

I always have trouble hearing what's being said through the ghost boxes, if it wasn't for the "translations" they put in the videos, i would just hear random noises.

But i'm planning on giving the P-SB7 spirit box a chance soon :)

Well I like the concept  supposedly it's picking up unmodulated EMF and converting it directly to audio which is cool.

FYI the M in AM and FM stands for modulation ... amplitude and frequency modulation respectively.

So I guess that means it's not supposed to have the problem of picking up broadcast frequencies.

I also like the retro/steampunk esque style

I'm rather annoyed with the name though since it sounds like it should be related to a geophone which it doesn't seem to be.

As for the demo ... meh it's fine If you cover up the floating text most times I would have no clue that something was being said much less what it was.

I think the device has potential and would love to try it out right after I win the lottery  asa for Huffparanormal  meh he's fine ... just some guy doing his thing the way he wants which I can respect. It's not the way I would do it so I'm not a fan and I think he has tons of false positives BUT it's up to him so it's fine

Um just out of curiosity are there any paranormal investigating groups that have a "sterling reputation" ... I kind of assumed all such groups are considered questionable by the nature of the research?

Ok I admit I enjoy the idea and potential of spirit boxes BUT that P-SB7 is freakishly expensive for an otherwise inexpensive radio with the scanner mute and stop wires cut.

Yeah, by nature of the research, one can only go by reputation. One can generally tell who is respected in the paranormal community by doing internet research. There are people/groups that have a bad rep for self-promoting with iffy evidence and general integrity issues. And of course professional jealousy is rampant in the field as well

Riiiight ... so you don't know anyone either huh ;)

A big problem is that any time someone says they contacted an investigative group someone else points out there is something about the group being questionable. Pretty much the only groups I've seen without a negative comment are groups that were just formed and or generally unknown.

I'm absolutely serious too ... I am not aware of any group with a "good" reputation much less "sterling" one

If such groups exist I would think this forum would be a good place to make one so when people ask for help we can say try xx or yy in your area.

So can anyone give an example of a group with experience and a good reputation?

I personally do not know any paranormal groups. I have tried contacting a few several months back but all they were interested was selling tickets for their "tour/visits" and not having any new members.

It is hard to believe sometimes what someone is saying as you have no idea if they are making it up or not. I wish there was a lie detector test on forums/websites at times.

I am just watching Paranormal Lockdown and that Geobox looked very Steampunk and overly large, but it looks to be useful if they can remove the sqelch/reverb etc.

Nick looks different with a beard.

I was quite intrigued of the bite mark Rob the camera man had.

It was a full set of nashers bite as if the jaw was really wide open and pressed against the back (top set joined the bottom set) as a normal bite only shows the front teeth incisors making an indent (try it on your arm.

Don't know what to make of in.

Also (and this got me thinking) how can a spirit bite you as if the clothes did not exist. ie able to pass through the clothes but make contact with the skin. The same goes for scratching.

I'm sure it will sell well now that it is on the show.
For the price 500 to 800 I would wait to try this out

They used it again on last Friday's show. And again, I am not hearing what they claim they hear, just a lot of metallic echo sounds. Cool to see grant make a brief appearance though

And for that price does it make a nice "PING" sound too :-)

I've played with one of the android apps which , I don't expect to be legitimate but yet still get seemingly pertinent results. Not sure if it's actually listening and when we say what's your name its spits out a random name or not but as a novelty and FREE app it's kinda fun I hate to admit.
