What do you think about this Motion Gone Wild Photo?
Submitted to GhostStudy.com for consideration

------------------------------------------

About this Photo
My son was goofing around with his digital camera last night and snapped a photo of himself while relaxing in his Lazy-boy Chair….this image is what he got….if you look closely in the right hand corner there seems to be a clear profile of a young man.  Would you be so kind as to look at it and tell me what you think?  When he first told me about it I was somewhat skeptical but after having blown it up on my computer I have to agree with him…he seems to have captured something on camera. Best Regards, Joanne *******

I'll let the photography experts explain this. And I'm sure there's a word for this type of repeatable motion. But an absolutely fun capture!

It looks like something off a TV screen - you can see squared-off corners from the image as it travels across the picture.  Was there a TV on or nearby?

This document I prepared myself with the necessary credits and acknowledgments.

Please forgive a couple of grammatical errors and sentence structure. I have a paid shoot shortly and I did this up quickly. Regards, all.

I've seen similar photos, including on here, years ago.  It was explained at the time. Pretty sure it's another motion blur/light issue. It's likely the camera moved during the shot. The shutter was set for the background and the guy there, so no blur there. Then the TV (or whatever that is) is so bright that the slight movement was exaggerated. The other photos I am talking about were also square looking.

Looking again, it sure looks like a cell phone. Maybe the phone is what is moving

I agree with EVP and Vlawde. I also ran it through 'Image Edited?' and it says the pixels only match software editors.

Yes, I'm thinking there was obviously a TV set near by......... cool effect for sure. I have more photos that are similar in my files. I'll post those here as I find them.  :)

Mac all the EXIF data is stripped out of the file which clearly mean the data has been run through an editor. The file has been also modified because the size is 1/3 of a megapixel. Even cameras from 10 years ago produced 10x that resolution.  That is essentially what the tool you used indicated. Data can be tampered with easily and removed but I still leave most of my data intact when I make images. Whether it is a cellphone or a DLSR EXIF data is always helpful for analysis when honestly left intact.

Here's the data or lack there of running through Paul Harvey's excelllent freeware tool.

EVP... I allow as little data as possible when I take a picture. So why does it have to be stripped. Mine is just automatically removed.

And what are you wanting us to know from the EXIF data you are displaying?

Jim go into your settings on your cellphone. You can turn GPS services embedding in images but other data is still left in such as SS/ISO and aperture. Using a third party app or editor can scrub all the data. Uploading to websites can remove additional data depending on restriction but most users do NOT remove data. They are not aware of it in the first place.

I cannot find any hard line information what one website decides to retain or throwaway in EXIF for an upload nor can I speak a definitive ruling with "The Soup". What I can tell you is that I have downloaded image files here for over a year and some data has been retained while other data has been removed clearly showing inconsistencies. Also, in a private PM to you just this year, I sent you what information is retained in an EXIF as a standard and you were very surprised what information was available. This distinctly indicates your awareness of pass through information was limited until recently.

The reason I posted the EXIF in this thread is to show that there wasn't data essentially remaining. This is simply observational on my part and why MAC received a notation by the analysis as "run through an editor."

Siguie is likely better versed in this field because of his background. I don't believe it's common to have encryption in these type of files. I'm just a photographer who understands basic photographic principles and post processing. I am not an expert but I'm confident in my foundation of knowledge in this area. You are certainly welcome to correct me if I'm wrong. I am open minded and understand my limitations.

To be honest, the TV image looks to me like it's from "The Good Doctor". The profile fits the actor playing the main character, and the little images in the squares sorta look like an x-ray. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. :-)

Good example of really goofing around with a camera :-)
Nice effect, but has nothing to do with the paranormal in my opinion.
Thanks for the good explanation EVP.
