The Journey East: Part 3
Bethel Woods Center For The Arts, New York

I found myself heading up US 81 and before long I found myself crossing the boarder into New York State.
I camped out in the parking area of a small church for the night and slept quite well, even as the rain pattered against the windshield and roof of the car.
I stayed away from the big cities for obvious reasons and passed through some very picturesque small towns. Autumn was in the air and the leaves were blowing.
I got into some fresh clothes, cleaned up the best I could and went to get some Breakfast. The restaurant was called "Tilly's" and it had a 1950's theme about it.
The food was great: 2 egg Cheese Omelet, 2 sausage patties, toast with grape jelly, milk and orange juice.
(Note: If you're ever out that way, that breakfast is worth a stop.)

I left the area of the Catskills and entered the farming community of Bethel, NY. I'd put money down that it still looks as it did 40 years ago or more.
I finally got to my destination and was just in awe of what I saw all around me. Nearby was a lady with a couple of her friends who was in tears.
She no doubt felt the same vibe I did that was left there and remains by so many people so long ago.

Saturday, August 16, 1969. I scraggly lookin' dude walks out on the stage and says to all in attendance:

"GOOD MORNING! WHAT WE HAVE IN MIND IS BREAKFAST IN BED FOR 400 THOUSAND!
"WE MUST BE IN HEAVEN, MAN! THERE'S ALWAYS A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN IN A DISASTER AREA."
I had finally made it to Woodstock.

What you see behind me is part of the pasture and farm formerly belonging to Max Yasgur.

From the pasture, I drove to the parking lot and went to the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and Woodstock Museum.
It was a multi media adventure: Audio, Music, Video, Slides, Clothes, Posters, Guides.

I got something to eat and drink and then headed into Monticello to spend the night.
