OK so this is more for peer review, another team sent this to me asking for feedback.
I blew it off to the start but have watched a few times

Still unsure

I tried to watch it, but the person holding the camera, kept moving it in such a way, that it was making me nauseous, so I had to stop.

Lol, there needs to be a course for paranormal teams to encourage silent vigils. How do you hear/see anything if you continuously talk and are too self absorbed with your own communication. Paranormal investigation should emmerse their routine mostly in observation. I dismissed a team player once for whispering. Yes I'm A-Retentive.

A paranormal team from Boston years ago, adhered to a code of ethic with "no talking permitted throughout the entire investigation" and any events had to be documented strictly on paper and pen. This might seem a little over the top but being an audio guy, I greatly appreciated this methodology. Also, with comparing notes after the investigating there wasn't such a thing an influencing the experience by sharing it verbally when it happened. I'm a huge advocate for the avoidance of "cognitive bias".

Sorry Dave, I didn't make it to the end. The video was vocally too contaminated for me to make a credible assessment.

I had my computer on mute (accidently) while first watching and saw the flash of light. When I read EVP's comments (LOL) I turned my sound on. I now think they are talking about the flash of light... under the stairs.

Klainey, that looks like a reflection from the IR emitter on the pan but the only way to tell would require a revisit at the very least and see if it could be replicated and make an inquiry whether any items might have been moved from under the stairs. I still say the founder should have handed out gags. I would have thrown out the audio personally. To avoid that I instituted a 15 minute controlled audio session once an hour. Expecting noone to talk might as well be solitary confinement but segments controlled by the audio specialist was a happy compromise.

I'm thinking a reflection of IR light from a nail, that is in the exact place where we see the flash of light, later the camera man films from the stairs to the group and you can see the nail in the door frame.

And yes to much talking.

Yeah, I bet that's it. At 9:54 you get a really good shot of the nail and measuring it's placement with the light switch it's in about the same place as where the light pops up at 5:54.

It looks cool BUT yeah pretty definitely that nail

I just took a quick screen capture video if people want to see the "flash"  4 second video

It looks like a light poking an inch or two into the doorway then backing out BUT the camera is in motion {panning down and to the right}  as the light is moving. Add that in with the nail position that you can see at 9:54 as mentioned by JamesRob then it's pretty close to conclusive.

I recommend taking the original video and looking a second or two before the light appears and then looking for that nail. The video is available in 1080p on youtube so presumably the original will be better than that and messing with the exposure and contrast should be enough to say yay or nay on the nail thang

Sorry EVP I can't make out the IR emitter. ;) I had to google what that might be.

Thanks for the flash siguie.... is that the nail in the doorway? There is also what looks like a light switch that might have reflected too.

Gee, I won't be doing that is red anymore a bit harsh on the eyes

Wow you suck!

But basically Yes

Posted Image

Even at 1080p I couldn't spot the nail in the flash video BUT here is a side by side one second apart ...

Posted Image

It would be more convincing if the second before image showed the nail but if you look at the patterns on the wall you can see it's pretty darn close  Toss in camera angles and perspectives and I think the argument is very persuasive  Though to be honest I am not sure the thang is actually a "nail" but whatever it is that is sticking out it's right where the light flash is occurring

Sorry for their yapping EVP. Like I said I was sent this vid by a team I know.

Inconclusive in the end really. I see both sides of the argument. Intriguing however

But yes, they had a lot of things to say

Well "inconclusive" from the available evidence "we" have BUT the original didn't get image processed by youtube so should have far more detail available. They would probably need to tweak the contrast and brightness but they were likely filming at 25 +/-5fps compared to me who is just grabbing two interlaced video frames so if nothing else they should be able to say that "Yes" the light is indeed a reflection on a horizontal protrusion or "No" the nail is visible and is not shinning.

Anywho I think the ball is in their court, maybe in night video they cannot make out the nail or maybe they shot everything in 4k and it's really obvious once they know what they are looking for

As for the talking ... I thought it was quite helpful  From their conversations you can figure out what they were seeing and looking for as well as some tidbits of what they had going on and how the camera was shooting in night vision mode 'cuz there was enough light leaking in. Also it would be a pretty boring video without some dialogues going on
