Maybe it's just me, but I find if I'm in a bad mood, or upset about something, I turn to certain movies to change my mood.
My all-time favorites are Ghostbusters, Top Gun and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. I have found that after watching these movies, it improves my outlook.

So my question to you is what movies do the same for you?

Great topic, Ms. Handbasket!

I got a bunch like this, as I love to but an old familiar movie in the player and half-watch it while I work on paintings or other projects.

Here's a couple:

Excalibur  (go figure)

King Kong (either the 1933 original or Peter Jackson's wonderful remake)

any of the Universal Studios montser movies

any of the Hammer Films monster movies

any of the Toho Studios monster movies (think Godzilla)

any other monster movies

Steel Magnolias  (HA! just kidding)

old MST3K episodes

The Alamo (Billy Bob Thorton version)

the BBC Richarde Sharpe series of films

Silent Running

I could go on, but you get the idea.  I love movies, and I have a pretty good collection of them.

Also 80's slasher films, again cheesier the better :P

Most recent films i buy, watch once and don't watch again.

I have, it was really funny. I don't know the actors names but I thought the main character in Meet the Spartans looked a lot like the original. Maybe I just need an optometrist appointment tho

300(Epic...)
Gattaca (weird I know)
Troy (Epic...)
Porky's (Perverted humor is great even if it's set in the 1950's...)
Dragonheart (Sean Connery makes a great dragon voice)
George and the Dragon (funny and I always had a crush on Piper Parabo... gorgeous + intelligence = ultimate hottie)
Predator (come on guys...just awesome)
Alien 2
Die Hard 3(best one in my opinion)
Not a movie but any season of House, supernatural, Eureka, ghost hunters, ghost hunters internation and now Deadliest Warrior!
"Something weird is going on Jess." Simon whispered as they waited to be served. "I overheard Sara and Hector say something about 'getting back at you' in the library this morning."
Jessie thought for a moment, his face expressionless as usual.
"That's just crazy." he said. "I didn't think you even knew where the library was."

Oh man...it's hard to narrow it down, but here goes....

The late 70s/80s horror.  If you're having a bad day, nothing like a little NON-CGI blood and guts to soothe the soul.
Fried Green Tomatoes for me, as well.
Dirty Dancing
Grease
Dazed & Confused
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
The Goonies
National Lampoons anything, but they have to have Chevy Chase
Titanic
The Green Mile
Pretty In Pink
Sixteen Candles
The Notebook
Last of the Mohicans
Dances With Wolves

...and I'm sure I'll think of more and have to add to this list eventually. LOL

Hm...I'm going to go ahead and put mine up because I don't see them at the moment, lol

Series:
Doctor Who & House
These are the two that I have to watch if they come on...I actually don't make it a point to actively seek out tv shows (except Heroes) so just whever I see House on I'll watch it...Doctor Who, though...I have the David Tennant Seasons of 2 through 4, so those are fun.

Movies:
Dangerous Beauty
Twilight

Right now those are the only two that I can watch over and over and over, that I can think of.

I have Labyrinth, but its not really one that I can stomach over and over...David Bowie is awesome in it though.

Also, its kind of hard to think on it right now because my movies are two and a half streets over in my friend's closet.

And while I know you were talking about movies, I'll go ahead and include books that affect my emotions and moods because I like them:

Rachel Caine's Weather Warden Series

Twilight Series (I've read this over and over and I'll probably read it another few times this year...)

The series I'm currently reading is an awesome series, I'm just not as emotionally invested in it as I am with the other series. Harry Potter would have, a year or two ago, made my list without contest, but things change, ya know?

I will tell you that when Disney's Up is released and all, it'll probably make my list. I went and saw it in the theater and while the beginning was completely unexpected, I loved the movie. I'm a movie-crier, so I naturally cried in it, about 5 different times, lol. I'm sure there are a few disney movies I'd throw up on that list when I have a chance to think on it, lol.

Great topic!

Just discussed this with my wife last week because her 'over and over' movies make me glad we have more than one TV. (Legally Blonde, Miss Congeniality, Never Been Kissed)

My list:
The Goonies (saw this in the theater 7 times in a week.)
Point Break
The Breakfast Club
The Princess Bride
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Extended Version...preferrably in one sitting. (I am a lunatic.)
The 'old' Star Wars movies (The Empire Strikes Back is a work of art.)
The Sons of Katie Elder
The Dirty Dozen
...and probably a few others that I can't think of off hand.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
Hamlet. ACT I, Scene 5
