As a quick background, there are family stories that I talked to ghosts when I was a little kid (through about age 5, I don't remember it really) and I've had a couple of visual experiences as a teen and adult but nothing like the following. Any help in understanding this would be greatly appreciated as I'm a little shaken.
So my fiance and I just travelled about an hour out from our home city of Philadelphia to stay at a romantic inn after we went apple picking. The inn has existed under various ownership since the 1770s and here's where it gets weird. I swear this actually happened and I'm of sound mind.
"While I']The next morning I tell my lovely fiance, who was endearingly open minded, that I think the inn was haunted and we Google it. Yup, it's in local newspapers and a local book due to reports of ghosts who have been seen in two rooms there, one of which was the one we stayed in. However, the ghosts reported were three kids, not the adult female presence and folks who I encountered.

From your story, it sounds like you had a feeling it was haunted and looked it up to find that others had experiences while they stayed but you didn't have an experience yourself? If I'm incorrect my apology in advance. Please share your experience while you were there if my deduction is incorrect.

So I could really use everyone's expertise in understanding what the heck just happened this past weekend (Sat Oct 24).

So my fiance and I just travelled about an hour out from our home city of Philadelphia to stay at a romantic inn after we went apple picking. The inn has existed under various ownership since the 1770s and there's a lot of great history in that area. After a nice dinner we come back to our room, watch some TV, fall asleep.
This is where it gets weird. I swear this actually happened and I'm of sound mind.
While I'm asleep, this adult female presence talks to me and tells me that we'll both be safe and ok, I just need to follow her instructions. I don't remember feeling scared, just really focused on doing what she was telling me and this sense of relief that if I did it ok we'd be fine. She asks me to repeat the names of other people and facts about their lives and deaths. All I have to do is diligently do this. I'm aware that there are *a lot* of people who are silently there as I repeat their information. They don't feel scary or threatening, there's just kind of a patient, pensive sadness and a sense that they want to be remembered. I spend the night doing this and wake up tired and not remembering
anyone's names or facts, just the way everything felt and the sense of this female presence. As far as I know, I was asleep the whole time. There was nothing malicious or bad feeling, but I felt, and still feel, weird and invaded, like someone walked right into my house and rummaged around rather than politely ringing the doorbell and waiting for me to answer.
The next morning I tell my lovely fiance, who was endearingly openminded, that I think the inn was haunted and we Google it. Yup, it's in local newspapers and a local book due to reports of ghosts who have been seen in two rooms there, one of which was the one we stayed in. However, the ghosts reported were three kids, not the adult female presence and folks who I encountered.
Has anyone heard about anything like this happening before?? Is there any tradition of entities asking for a recitation of names and facts? Please send anything you got to help me understand what just happened.
