Today I had the pleasure of spending time with one of my dearest friends at Buttonwoods Farm in Connecticut. These junctures are fleeting as the sunflowers in this immense field will soon become a deliberate act of omission. Within the last week many of the sunflowers have already succumbed to an early grave. Life is about a cycle of birth and death. Both of them usher in change. Beauty can be found with your eyes anywhere you choose to look. From a fallen leaf within autumns blanket to blossoming of life in the spring.

My dearest friend and I have a decade of entwinement. We've shared our innermost secrets with a tear and rejoiced our moments of adhesive connection. Our beginnings came from a meeting at a school investigation. Shortly thereafter we bonded because of a common nemesis. "Great friends come from mutual enemies." We formed our own team and shared many great investigations building a successful and respected team. Since then she has moved out of state and returned but our feelings have never faltered. I respected her choice to leave and wished her well but with much regret swallowing my own selfishness as best as I could.

Both our lives have changed but there's always been magic between us. Some friendships will never be forgotten. This is one of them.

This shot was made as clouds began to diffuse the harsh overhead light. Shot with my full frame camera with a macro lens. I prefer studio work but outdoor venues offer unrepeatable variety.

Beautiful, I love sunflowers. It would be great if I could get my Jerusalem Artichokes(Helianthus tuberosus) to flower like that. When they're in bloom, the blossoms smell like chocolate.

Appeciated Klainey. My images are dramatically downsized to keep the tabling on PS from having a fit. Much of the detail is lost by my image postings. Here's a 100% crop of the detail you don't see on the board.

To me....it is so very nice when you see someone put up some of their work and you have the pleasure of seeing so much detail and results of a very high level of effort!!!

Thanks Lou, that's very kind of you to say that. Thankfully much of what you see is made easy by technology today. I shot film back in the 70's and I never would have this type of result. The digital era  is a blessing to those willing to take the time to utilize it.

Several years ago, towards the end of winters solstice, I ventured to a nearby waterfall, to capture a moment in time of Jack Frost's melting. The sky had turned from an esthetic myriad of cloud cover to a witches spell of overcast in a matter of minutes. As the colors dulled, I saw this as an opportunity to convert to black and white. A longer than normal shutter speed to emphasize movement and create an etheric, magical look.

Klainey & LeticiaAlb greetings and thank you for your reply. I know some of you may not find b&w attractive, but it's another tool when the light goes flat. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Images are very subjective when it comes to appreciation.
