Hi everyone,

I have lots of photos that are sitting around and waiting for a final determination on whether they should appear in the GhostStudy Gallery or not. So I thought it would be fun to post some of them here (on occasion). This could become a regular thing if there's enough interest on the board. All opinions and/or analysis are welcome and appreciated.   :)

Here's the story from the email:
Hi, the 2 attached photo's were taken on a laptop webcam on the 24/01/2012
I was recently uploading images from my camera from a night out and ended up flicking threw the images on the laptop, my friend noticed the face(?) in the window behind myself (it is me in the image)
I was just wondering if you would be able to offer any clarification as to what the figure is or if this is a common sighting? I find it very creepy! Thanks, Alex.

Here are the pictures:

Smudge on the glass?
Reflection?
Possibly a ghost?
Or a live person outside of the window??

Looks like a mask to me.If it is a real ghost though, it's incredibly detailed and a great capture.
We have such sights to show you!

This really could be a couple of things, personally it looks like a smear caused by direct breath onto the window and pareidolia giving us the impression of a face, however that is just my opinion and it could quite possibly be an actual capture. I believe this should be included in the gallery as it certainly does raise lots of discussion points and is one of those where you will have 10 different responses and 10 differing opinions.

I think it looks a little like a Michael Myers mask.  Very interesting picture!!

I hate window or mirror pictures, there are so many things that can cause illusions, especially with a flash. As said above, likely a smudge just reflecting the flash..
Hehe you ought to hear me watching My Ghost Story: Caught on Camera. I'm always making comments about some of the videos and pictures (there are some that are impressive, a lot not so much) Obvious dust orbs flying around, and the people are saying "this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt there are ghosts here!"

its kind of square,  my guess would be its the reflection of the computer screen.  they way the "faces" are posed they look like they are photographs, as he said he was uploading from the night out. they look like images when you are posing with friends,  and the image is right at the edge, half-cut by the edge of the screen.

Okay, here's what I have from you guys so far...

Smear / Pareidolia
Possibly real
Michael Myers Mask
Smudge Reflecting the Flash
Reflection of the Computer Screen

All of the above are worthy contributions and thought provoking... thank you!

And me, I'm kinda leaning towards it being a living person outside the window.
Great comments so far, and please continue... it will help with the big decision! :)

At first glance, I thought it was Jigsaw from the Saw movie franchise.
I am curious to know if may there's a television in the too behind the guy in the photo.
And I would have to agree with what Clarina said,  the more you look at it, the more it looks like Michael Myers.

My question is, are we sure that's a window behind him?

The photo creeps me out!
Okay, it's true already, now leave me alone

I'm just trying to get past my urge to say "dude, who does your hair?!"     the first picture looks like the boy, turned  to the North,it appears to have the same hairline as the boy... if you reverse the relection, you can see it is the boy, even his ear is showing.

What is this ghost shadow that brushes my shoulder?
The night wind whispers and I must follow. Long is the shadow cast by the black wings of fear.

At first glance, I didn't get any feelings from the photo, nothing "creepy" or otherwise.  I'm leaning toward reflection/illusion myself.  However, if someone could post a lightened version, that would be helpful!

BTW, this was fun, hope you post lots more for us to analyze!

I don't think it's a smudge, because it's too detailed and in the two photos, the image appears to be in a different position.  However, I like Jester's explanation as a possibility.  I also think it could very well be a real person, depending on the distance between the person in the photo and the window.     Either way, it is intriguing and could (IMO) be gallery worthy.

Don't have editing software on this computer, but a lightened version should shed some light on the picture (pun intended)

Okay, I cleaned it up a bit and took out the noise. It's looking a lot more like a face now. I'm still thinking it could be a live person.

Mak Jo Si,
We don't mind people expressing their opinions about whether
something is a ghost or not, we DO however like you to be
able to back up your opinions. And with all due respect, "from a Taoism exorcist vision"
isn't really a valid argument.
So you say it's not a ghost, what is your opinion of what it is or
Could be?

So you say it's not a ghost, what is your opinion of what it is or
Could be?

Sure, it is more of a graphic problem with photography, first thing of all is because I am a photographer myself and so I had seen these a lot of time in my career over 6 years already. It is a common thing and I can blow any stuff out of that kind of low quality photo if you like, it's common, just like the orbs stuff, dust and lense problem.

Another thing is, from a Taoist perspect, and experience in real life doing exorcism, if a ghost is around, it won't be like that at all, what you can only capture on camera is "light" or something that can be seen by vision that can see energy. We taoism exorcist can see it and determine if it is a ghost or not, or some people do have the ability to see it too, not a rare thing.

Another thing is, ghost photos if it is real, you can put the photo in your hand and feel the energy with the palm (trained of course) and it will give a chill feeling or a shiver or a sinking and cold feeling to it, if it is real. Then the "ghost" will appear in your mind later on which means you connected to it already.  From internet photos, it is easily done by printing the photo out too. It works. But this one don't have anything.

So that is my take, Sorry if I am kinda too blunt~ :(
