Hello all, thought I'd start a new thread since the old one is dated and was derailed out of people's concern. Thanks for the warm concerns by the way. I can't promise an abundance of imaging. I work in a studio now and mostly shoot portrait work.

This is one from late 2018 when I visited friends in Florida. Shot with a flash and worked the shutter at high speed to turn the background completely black. The flamingo was preening as I shot this picture completely unconcerned of my presence. Let me know if you see any ghosts created by artifact please



This was shot in the studio. Nothing special, just practicing my rim lighting. Used one studio monolight to produce this one.

Good to know Klainey, I had a hard tiime evicting the gremlins when making images for a very long time.

Thanks KolIkA. The determining factor of color is diet suprisingly enough, When born they have grey feathers but will gradually turn a shade of pink from canthaxanthin obtained through brime shriimp and blue-green algae. They can be in shades of pink, orange, red or white.

Shot at Elizabeth Park In CT 06-24-19. This park in West Hartford houses 10,000 roses in late spring early summer outdoors. Shot with a piece of black foam core behind the rose and a diffuser above to soften the light.

One more from Elizabeth Park. Much of my time spent there was in an assistant capacity to help my friend. I diffused the light and held backgrounds in place so she could make the shot. Our journey ended in less than 2 hours. It became uncomfortably hot and neither of us deal with the heat well. Red subject matter requires extra attention. You typically are forced to underexpose your images or the highlights become quickly over saturated and detail is lost. I enjoy sharing time with others passionate in the art. Photography is truly my Zen moment.

Tell me about it; I took some pics of the flowers in our gardens; I had to throw out most of them due to over saturation. I only was able to get one good reddish Petunia and some Lychnis. Even those, I had to play with them to get the details. Point and shoot cameras suck. I also had to change the settings to "Beach" to tone down the o/s.

Totally agree Mac. I shoot in manual mostly but if you have the ability to shoot with exposure compensation, this will be a good time to use it and underexpose. In these special cases of strong reds values, I look at my RGB histogram instead of the histogram brightness. In brightness, the image will fool you time after time. I always chimp my shots with strong reds or it's just a wasted shutter click.

Someone over at Flickr must like this image. It's Explored and is racking up the hit rate. I'm grateful for the noticing here and at Flickr.
