Yeah, I've been slacking, it's been over a year since my last one. I've always wanted a grim reaper, so here it is! It has a lot of glare because I have Bacitrin on it, and is fresh, I got it last night so I just unwrapped, cleaned it and applied it.

It's a black rose, which symbolizes death. The original design had ivy all up and down the scyth, the face wasn't very good, and a few other things were all redone by the artist. We decided the black rose looked cool, so we left it. He also turned the bottom of the scyth handle into a goat's hoof

cool - the goats hoof - why that?  doesn't it symbolize evil? or, rather, demonic influence?

Yeah, although not necessarily for this tat. Some people see the reaper/death as evil. I see it as neutral, a symbol of the passing of this life into the next.

But we have a skull, black robe and all, and it just looks cool in t hat context! hehe not EVERYTHING needs to be symbolic

Hehe, good idea! But I already have an Egyptian-themed tat on the other side.

Or I could say it's a tattoo of Governor Schwarzenegger's wife, Maria Shriver...she really DOES look like Skeletor!

Holy bejebus that woman would scare me witless if I met her on an Investigation.

No offence to her but she really needs to eat, rather than just eat more.

Im sure she is lovely though.

Nice tattoo though, Im thinking about getting another done, I might put it on here if and when.

YIKES!! She use to be beautiful! I guess that's what happens when you marry the 'Tu-mun-ate-ah". I really like the tattoo. Nice colors.

If I ever met her I'd tell her that only beetles are supposed to have exo-skeletons.
But still, cool tattoo.

cool tattoo Vlawde!  Love the coloring and the symbolism in it.  Do you draw/design them yourself?  All the tattoos I've seen picture of are AWESOME!  smile.gif

I'm going for #4 next week Friday!  It was supposed to have been done a month ago, but it got moved because the tattoo artist came down with something.  I took my mom to get her first two though... I'll post mine when I get them, along with my mom's.

I found these basic designs online:

And then he modified and tweaked. The second one was the pose I wanted but didn't like the face. the key is to check out an artist's portfolio to see if they have the artistic talent and the style you are looking for, although most good ones can do different styles. I insist on good detail, and godd color/shading. This is the least colorful one I have, but the reaper doesn't exactly wear tie-dyed robes!

I would LOVE to get a tat, but I'm terrified of needles. I would NEVER be able to do it. (I have a seriously hard time donating blood as it is). If I could get one, this is one I'd get....

And as for the....woman? Gawd! Someone get her like, a dozen donuts and a few kit-kat bars....Looking at her makes ME want to eat more...even though I don't need to. lol

And that is an AWESOME tat. I love the shading and such. Great details. How long did it take for you to get it done?

Maybe three hours, he worked pretty fast yesterday. It stings a little but isn't an 'ouch" kind of pain.  Plus a little vicodin didn't hurt.....

Oh my---that cracks me up! I don't mean that in a mean-spirited way--it's just a really funny visual, but I feel bad for your friend.

Vlawde--I love that! Great coloring; it's beautiful.
