Have you ever been outside or in some place and suddenly you feel
like you aren't alone, yet there is nobody around you?
And it freaks you out BIG time?
I was out on my back porch picking up a bit when I got that feeling.
I felt like I couldn't get back inside my house FAST enough!
What causes that? Why does it happen? What is it called?
Is it something paranormal?

Yes I have had that experience. I always wondered if I was some type of anxiety.

It's the fight or flight instinct, which is left over from the times, when we were prey to animals like Smilodon and Cave Bears. It lets us know when we're being watched or there's danger nearby.

Exactly what MacGS said if you went for a run you would have felt better using up your adrenaline. Also if you literally jump in your sleep, it is a similar thing. It is your bodies prehistoric self-preservation kicking in :) All good it is natural :)

Yes, William flight or fight is a response trigger AKA anxiety.

I get that feeling every time I go into the cellar, especially when I'm walking up the cellar stairs. I feel like someone's walking up behind me. It gives me the heebie jeebies, because I can't walk fast, due to my bad knees.

I dont get that feeling often.  Meaning That feeling when no one else is around.  But, when I do get that feeling.  I leave immediately!!!!  I have learned over the years to trust that inner voice / instinct!

Okay I'm not ready to just chalk it up to nothing strange.

When I was a kid I used to go walking down this unassuming road late at night & from time to time would get that feeling & couldn't continue then years later I find out that at least four woman's bodies were dumped on that same stretch something like 30 or so years prior.

Once I was walking down a mountain through a tunnel & the same thing. Turned out a women had committed suicide by crashing into an on coming car the night before. I'm in a pitch black tunnel walking on the debris from the wreckage.

I used to do paranormal experiments where I would spend about 10-15 minutes inviting demons and evil spirits to me, three times a day. The purpose was to find out if they are real.

The first sign was a change in my sleep patterns. I'd go to sleep at 9pm and would wake up somewhere between 3am and 4am. I'd go to sleep at 12am and the same thing would happen, which told me that it wasn't my mind playing tricks on me.

When I would wake up, I could easily feel a presence and the "vibe" of this presence. It wasn't a good one and I called a quits on the paranormal experiments and started sleeping with the lights on until it went away. Even when I'd sleep with the lights on, I'd still wake up a little after 3am for a couple of nights.

It eventually stopped.

Due to my high interest in the paranormal field, I've been contemplating about doing it again. Although it's scary at night, it gives me a thrill whenever I get a sign from the unknown. I'm already getting excited from just typing about it.
