I make:  homemade bath soap
              homemade hard lotion bars
              jewel weed salve
              my own furniture wax
              colloidal silver
              homemade laundry soap
              homemade teas
deep fried dandelion flowers (yum!)
              plantain salve

Curious if anyone else makes things instead of buying them. Anyone?

I don't make anything fancy, I design my christmas cards and print them out myself. I also turn old clothing into pillows and quilting squares, and boxes either get turned into smaller boxes, organizers, baskets... ect. Lol.

Now don't get the two mixed up because dungeons taste awful and chocolate chip brownie cookies are easy to break out of.

I've made my own BOBA FETT helmet and a TUSKEN RAIDER helmet from Star Wars, and i've also made a SAND MAN gun from Logan's run.
Also I've made ships into bottles.
I also paint, draw, sketch.

My Da made ships-in-a-bottle. You do it piece by piece. First.you put in the base, be it fake water or just a wooden base for the ship. Then you can make the ship, but you need to have the masts folded down, but jerry-rigged(spelling?), so you can just pull a string to make the masts stand upright..

Yes, that's exactly how it's done. It takes a bit of time to make them.

Yeah it does. I used to watch my Da make them. Once he let me help him by pulling up the masts. He made ones in the bottle and a big one, that was so big it could never fit into one. He made them from scratch, never a store bought model kit. My Da could do anything he put his mind too, carpentry, plumbing, wiring, etc. You name it, he could do it.

No apology needed! :)     This is all interesting to me. Putting a ship in a bottle sounds complicated, and requires lots of patience. I love to hear what people do for a hobby. Today I helped put up a fence, at my age I am feeling it all over! That is a hobby I don't want, though it was fun for a day. I like to garden and just be outdoors a lot. I was kind of forced into making my own soaps and lotions due to financial reasons, but now I love it and would not go back to store bought soap for anything! Hope to hear more about people's hobbies. :jumping0045:

Right now i just make jewelry, but I used to draw (pencil and ink), paint (water colour and oil), magic marker, and block printing. This one i did after I did an pen & ink drawing for my aunt. The water was deeply coloured with ink, so i just doodled with it.

Snickers... deep fried dandelion flowers? I'll have to try that some day!  :)
Hey, can you make bath bombs that fizz in the bathtub? Those are really cool!

Frootloops... we know a little about your artistic talents... you should post more of your work!

MacC... I have always loved your artwork and love what you just posted. I remember you sharing more of your art in one of the other topics... amazing!

Oh, and ships in a bottle... I so admire those that can do that! If it were me, after 10 minutes, I would be throwing the bottle across the room!

I guess before I die, I should develop a hobby.  :)

I'm planning on posting stuff in October for "Drawlloween" lol.

I love bath bombs, they are super easy to make. Recipe and Online store for non-staining pigments and tons of scents

What would be a good hobby for Jim... hmm... You can make little doors and glue them to random trees and make people wonder why little doors are popping up everywhere.

Nope, I tried but she couldn't fit through the door.... So I signed her up at the nearest fitness club. So in three months, she should be able to slide right in..  ;)

Jim:  I have a recipe for a batter for dipping the flowers into and deep frying them a few at a time in a skillet. The first time I made them, they were so good that we pigged out on them. I had to make everyone stop eating so many as it was the first time we had them and I didn't want to make anyone sick. But we did fine and I have made them lots of times since then. You can find a recipe on line by searching on google. I pick the dandelions out of my yard as I know it hasn't been sprayed with anything, soak them in water for a couple hours to clear any bugs and dirt from them. They are good! And good for you too!

I have not tried to make bath bombs yet, but would like to someday soon.

I had an uncle who made bluebird houses and would hang them randomly in a park or just in the woods along the road. I don't think anyone knew who put them there. ^_^
