There are a few favourite movies but the first on to pop into m mind is "The Prime of Miss Jean Brody" (1969) by Muriel Spark and starring Maggie Smith. A close second is 'House on Haunted Hill', the early versions.
And I discovered one recently that I found riveting and will watch many more times, I am sure. "The Lady Killers" (1955) is a comedy starring a very young Sir Alex Guinness. In 2004 the Coen Brothers directed a remake of, or at least based on the 1955 production, I haven't seen that one, but anything touched by the Coen Brothers has to be worth two hours of my time.

Shawshank is amazing, I am pleased to be investigating that in May.
