Dr. Timothy Clark Smith of New Haven, VT. passed away way back in 1893 (On Halloween, even!) and is buried in a very unusual grave. Being buried-alive was a common occurrence back then and the prospect freaked him out to no end. So; He had an elaborate grave built with a window over his face so that, in the event of a premature burial, he would be detected alive and have some light.
....Fortunately for him, his death went off without a hitch. Today you can see the grave and look down into the window and see his long-dead corpses' face (except that these days, it's a bit hard due to the murkiness of the glass).
I wish there was a photo where they managed to get a glimpse of the face....
....However; The best I could find was this.
If you can see anything then, you have better eyes than I!
