They do have some amazingly fast camouflage abilities, but I also think this has been manipulated.

This is a cool octopus species.
I apologise unreservedly. I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, was in no way fair comment and was motivated purely by malice. I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future.

That is such a cool octopus! Those pictures of them, on the geographic article page are awesome. From a distance he really looks like a lobster! ohmy.gif
Let children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life.

I find all sorts of sea creatures fascinating especially octopi....but when you get to see the video of them getting out of aquarium tanks and just going for a casual stroll round the building, hijacking other species tanks and stealing fish...you gotta worry. blink.gif And yes it has been captured on film and there was a program on tv a few days ago about this, but unfortunatley I don't know where to find it on the web.

Just imagine, if you went to an aquarium and had your purse stolen, the police would lock you up after this conversation:

Cop: Madam, where exactly did you say you were standing at the time your purse was stolen?

Lady: Just by the Pirhana tank.

Cop: Ok, and what did the theif look like?

Lady: Kinda squidgy with long tenticles, Bit like an octopi

Cop: and what makes you think that this person stole your purse?

Lady: Because he was standing right behind me

Cop: So the octopi was standing behind you?.....and you sure it was an octopi?

Lady: I think so

Cop:....You think so????

Lady: Well he did have a very good disguise....

Cop: What kind of disguise?

Lady:.....He was invisible

Cop................................?????

Cop: Okay lady......Are you on any kind of medication?

Yep, octopi are well known for that trick. I remember one time we went to the museum of fish on holiday and there were no small fish in the two tanks on the left of the octopus, because overnight he had escaped from his tank and eaten them all. They started padlocking his tank after that laugh.gif
