Crafted from dead animals, Iris Schieferstein's outlandish designs fetch up to 3,900 and have proved a hit with extreme dressers such as Lady Gaga.

Some of the most controversial pieces include a pair of sandals sporting stuffed doves with their wings spread wide and a collection of heels fashioned from hollow horse hooves.

I kinda like the horse hooves but I'd only wear them if they were fake and not from a real horse...

That's one very strange deformed horse hoof. Looks more like some kind of goat's foot instead. There is no way a horse would be able to walk with a hoof like that and also a horses hoof is not split in the middle.  Both pictures gives me the creeps. I don't like them at all.

That one might be a goat's hoof, but on the full article are horse hooves as well.

I think they're disgusting.  You could have the same effect with man made materials, no need to stick a poor dead dove to your foot.

That is just tasteless, not to mention ugly.  I have seen shoes with feathers and skins that at least had some style to them ( although I do not wear animal parts).  I am a shoe nut and those are disgusting

I am glad it didn't catch on here. Let's hope there wasn't a market for them!

I'd say there's definitely a market, even if just for display.

this use of dead animals seems to elicit very different reactions from people compared to say mounted busts on the wall or more common clothing and wearables... think there's an interesting discussion to be had exploring why that is, and I can appreciate pieces like these from an artistic standpoint.
