Here's an article about Gettysburg battle fields. Apparently the rocks are cursed:

Quote

The National Park Service is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the folks at Gettysburg National Military Park want to remind you not to take any stones from the park. Why? Well, for one reason, they’re cursed.
That’s according to a blog post by Maria Brady, a park ranger at Gettysburg.

Brady writes that the park sometimes gets packages in the mail with people returning rocks they took— which is a violation of federal regulations and can result in $130 worth of fines and fees, she points out— and those packages usually have letters.

In one letter, sent to Gettysburg in May, a man admits that he and his wife took three stones. “We didn’t know then how the removal of those stones would affect our lives and we didn’t know they were cursed,” he wrote. The man then explained that he lost his wife, son, his job, and then went to prison.

Here's the full Article.

I would suspect that this would have an opposite effect on people that are intrigued by the paranormal.  Now they will have to deal with those who want an object like this.  Maybe for their own curiosity or to "give" them to others they dont like in hopes of causing them harm???

IMO it's a story to stop people from taking rocks from a historical site, and possibly a state/federal park. It is illegal to take anything from certain areas like that

Your also cursed if you take rocks from the pyramids in Egypt and here in Australia at Uluru  (Ayers rock) cursed by Aborigines. It's also a big insult if a woman plays a didgeridoo. (it's a sacred instrument for men only).

What I've learnt is that if you see some rocks, you should leave them where they are!

I've heard of this sort of thing before. A place with a big historical/spiritual/paranormal significance and cursed rocks/other natural objects.

I also had no idea that diggeridoos were male-only.

Yes very sacred to aboriginal men, a  spiritual insult if a female plays one.

How is it possible that the very stones of Gettysburg are cursed?

I doubt they are. But it's to keep people from messing up historical sites and removing stuff

Well, when you think of all the blood, that had been shed on the battlefields. All of the emotions of the day. Can you imagine, what the mortally wounded were feeling, while they lay there dying: pain, fear, anger, and for some the hatred, that they felt towards the other side. It wouldn't surprise me that the stones could be cursed.

Well being that I am here right at this moment I still don't think this is something I should try.

Hey Jim, can I interest you in a battlefield rock? lol I'm just kidding ya. Wouldn't do that to anyone.

If every body took a stone when visiting,  lets say the pyramids, there wouldn't be any pyramids left to look at. This go's for any site we visit.

Yes, ALL of that blood shed was because of slavery!

Yes, I have an ancestor who was an African slave. Also, black ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary and Civil wars.

Here's an article that relates to Uluru in Australia, and the 'cursed' stones that people take away and need to ship back!
