Beth wrote to our Facebook page with these strange images asking if we know what it might be. So I thought I would post it here to see if there are any takers and what your thoughts might be.

It could be an image made inside a window and you see the reflection of a person through the glass in the upper left. Low resolution images like this detract detail and soften images increasing the possibility of artifact. Unfortunately most images said to be of possible paranormal origins fall into this category, low resolution, light deprived, high contrast and substantial blurring from tiny sensors with shutters that are dragged due to low light conditions.

It could be light reflecting on a rain drop on the lens.

Could be a reflection as mentioned, at least part of it is as EVP mentioned, you can see the person and a lamp. Photos of a photo on a monitor are less than ideal. Without knowing any specifics, it could be a spider web or some debris on the camera lens getting moved around a bit from a breeze. IMO no reason the think paranormal

Valid point Vlawde. I've had innumerable submissions where the culprit could/was from a lens that required cleaning. That was one of our questions to the proprietor during our preliminary investigation. Was the lens clean before the picture was taken? We had mixed answers with that question. It really doesn't matter what camera it is but cellphones (which are the most common optical imaging in today's age, are secured in pockets full of lint or purses that were cleaned out a generation ago. No finger pointing meant ladies.

Here's is one of the cameras inspected at a clients household that held a definitive answer to the ghost like imaging. Needless to say, the glass looked like it had been used at a dirt bike rally :)

EDIT-  I forgot to mention with this photo that the protective lens shield is mostly open. This is shut when the camera is off. There was so much crud packed in the lens housing, the shield was unable to close properly.

Nice work Kevin. Looks like you have it sourced. Credit to the three of us. All of us suggested some type of lens contamination. I don't get this contamination on my glass generally. My lenses are equipped with lens hoods. They serve for flare reduction and shield the front element from weather and other mishaps. They aren't a perfect solution but they certainly help. Nothing beats a visual inspection periodically.

Ideally, debunking should be minimized with paranormal evidence whether it be audio, video or still. If preparations are made, these type of solvable explanations would not occur or at least be reduced in frequency, but ordinary people don't take precautionary methods to reduce these occurrences. Not their fault, they don't use controls or measures unless they are concerned about them and most of them aren't.

Some of those rain drop examples are really interesting looking and if you didn't know it was from rain it would be rather mysterious!

It's quite common on CCTV (security camera) outside when raining.
